Natasha Vally

Natasha Vally is a PhD Fellow at The Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research (WISER) in Jo'burg. In the context of South Africa’s exceptional social assistance programmes, her research looks at micro-practices with a view to unravel the underlying significant theoretical implications embedded in all levels of application for and delivery of grants. Her PhD research follows from her Masters degree that explored the concept of political quiescence in select South African townships in the 1960s. Natasha also holds a BSc (Honours) degree in Mathematics and Genetics. She has lectured on South African social movements and feminism. She has worked in the South African lesbian and gay sector and continues to participate in feminist and anti-war organising.
